SAP HANA Studio is a collection of applications for SAP HANA. Technical users can manage the SAP HANA database, create and manage user privileges, and create new models of the data in the SAP HANA database or modify existing models. This is a client tool that can be used to access the local or remote SAP HANA database. HANA depends on the deployment model selected. If you choose to integrate with SAP HANA, you need to install SAP HANA components on verified hardware by a certified administrator or a formal SAP HANA hardware partner.

If you select the SAP HANA appliance, SAP HANA components can only be installed by certified hardware partners on verified hardware running a specific operating system. Other systems or content developed with this type of system are not supported by SAP. Support Package Stacks (SPS) can be downloaded and applied to appliances according to their respective hardware partner agreements. HANA studio does not depend on external JVM installation. The SAP JVM has been installed or updated during the installation and update of SAP HANA studio.

SAP HANA Studio stores passwords using default Eclipse secure storage. Different password providers are used depending on whether you are running a 32-bit installation or a 64-bit installation. This means that switching between 32-bit and 64-bit installations erases the stored password. You can use the command line arguments eclipse and password to override the default Eclipse configuration for storing passwords.
